The Jewel Box was awarded National Safety and Security Award 2009 (Cluster Category) as part of the HarbourFront Safety and Security Watch Group (SSWG) Cluster A $36 million transformation of the cable car commenced, including a complete replacement of the cable car system, a World’s First 7* VIP Jewelled Cabin and 67 new 4th generation cabins that lit up like gems in the night. The cable car ride was rebranded as the Jewel Cable Car Ride. |

The Jewel Box officially opened an iconic green extension. Built at a cost of S$10 million, the extension houses two new restaurants; Empress Jade and Sapphire. All the dining outlets are rebranded with gem-inspired monikers.
